As an artist who was able to see her art had been used for AI recognition scared me. I have already had some of my pieces stolen before without all these internet tools, and now it makes it much easier for someone to call themselves an artist while stealing the art of others via AI.

First problem – it’s NOT “AI” … it’s machine learning.

wake up. it’s the most derivative of derivative that can be derived. stealing a fraction of a penny from billions of artists is no different than direct plagiarism from a single artist.

Answer 1st Question extended with an example:
Suppose we feed images of egg, it will try to understand what is the shape. Its oval and sheperical. In order to understand that shape, these images are manually tagged. Various pictures will show different angles and shapes.
The algorithm behind understanding the shape will get the flexibility to decide the range of shape based on images it were fed.
DALL-E is not magically creating these, its logically and flexibly operating with range of parameters its understood from its learning.

Speaking from my personal experience with dall-e, I found it frustrating. It’s very limited what it can do. And I mean very very limited. I gave it very simple inputs but it struggled to present a “cohesive” image most of the times.
Cool technology though. I’m sure they’re gonna update it a ton in the coming time.
