Michael Keaton is his stage name, his actual name is Michael Douglas; but Michael Douglas was already known from his superstar father Kirk Doulas so he changed it. He shared that on The Colbert Report.

A lawsuit that spoke only of compensation, that allowed the Sacklers to keep the vast majority of the proceeds of their actions, that removed their names from the suit and on and on is most definitely not commensurate with the harm their actions caused. Actions that were taken with full knowledge of the consequences and were predatorily accelerated to maximise short term profits. The long term harm will be felt for generations.

That shit killed my brother. He got hurt and got hooked. Went from running marathons to being prescribed 240 mg oxycontin a day. Those assholes.

i disagree that addiction is a disease. everybody’s addicted to many things, money, food, sex, power, work, exercise, sky diving…etc….america(ns) dont really care tho, people just want to vilify poor people.

The Sackler family destroyed an entire generation of lives, got a fine, got to keep 75% of their profits, and will serve no jail time for the deaths they caused.
It’s one of the worst disgraces in American history.

I know those pills are evil in the long run- but no doctor gives me any opioids even when seriously injured….there has to be a balance

I have multiple chronic pain illnesses. I thank science that I have medicine to help me get up from my bed daily. I take opiates but I don’t know if it’s from Purdue Pharma, however you need to know your own limit before you die and I know my limit before it’s middle of that point

To all those who hate against the Sackler’s here. If you were the or a Sackler, you would have jumped on this train too. I guarantee that. It’s America. No business is too dirty.

John Oliver was right when he said the question shouldn’t be how much should Purdue be forced to pay in damages, but how much should they be allowed to keep.
