It is so disappointing Stephen Colbert cut Pete Buttigieg off… especially given what was discussed. Not a classy move.

Thank you Mayor Pete for your gravitas during this interview, and for bringing up climate change. We seriously miss that in America.

Didn’t the Chief of Justice and Neil support the recent law for gay rights?

Justice Thomas really pisses me off. He is old enough he should remember segregation and state laws that made it illegal for blacks and whites to marry. It was considered sacrilege because one’s race made them less than other humans. Maybe someone should drop him back in time to the 1950’s in Selma for a while and let him experience why bigotry is bad.

One side of the American schism will unite behind any monster you throw at them in the name of “owning the libs” or something equally mean-spirited, and the other is fractured by trying to prove who’s the most “woke” or ideologically pure. There are so many facts we’re going to have to accept: the reality of climate change and scientific evidence, sure, but also that, no matter what “ism” society adopts – capitalism, socialism – as long as there are marginalised communities and excessive wealth gaps among us, we’ve failed. In conclusion, I’m looking forward to reading Pete’s book and seeing what hot takes he has to offer. Even though he looks as exhausted as the rest of us in this clip. Hang on, my dude. You and Chasten will get through this, we’ll make sure of it.

One would think that Clarence Thomas would be a little more open to marriage equality. There was a very long period of time in our Country when he and his wife could not have married.

****When will those opposing/wanting to change it, not realize marriage has nothing to do with Church/religion?!?!****
_You don’t have to agree with their lifestyle, but don’t deny them their rights as your fellow Americans!_
No one wants to change your church, it’s simply making a union between two adults binding and legal so that they can have the same benefits straight couples have had. Just because you take away the law, doesn’t mean that a gay couple can’t make a marital commitment. It’s just not allowing them (you’re countrymen and women, members of your family and community, your fellow human beings) the right to live with the same programs and benefits that they have earned and have a right to! Imagine your partner, or you, not being able to use benefits or have a legal say in important medical decisions!

I’m glad Stephen is covering this because the MSM isn’t and there are a lot of people that need to know what’s going on. They didn’t refer to it tonight when they talked about the Supreme Court. Democrats are horrible at making a case or fighting back.

The election might not be soon enough. They are going to appoint that lady before then and we are screwed. People need to start calling their state representative and tell them to hold off on voting until the election is over or they will be fired. Call, write, email, social media…try them all and often. This appointment could change our lives for decades. Please call your local representatives today, tomorrow, the next day…don’t sit by as we lose decades of progress in one appointment.

This makes me think of the People’s Temple and the Branch Davidians. In both religious movements, within a month of it falling apart (the mass suicide in Jonestown and the Waco Seige) their respective patriarchs, Jim Jones and David Koresh decided that marriages outside their movement were null and void. In both cases it was unpopular within the temple, but things went awry before it could be resolved.

That said, it’s going to be a telling move when the United States decides to nullify marriages that were previously established. Something tells me it’s not going to be tolerated by the public. It’s going to get messy. And those lifetime appointments could well become a liability when there is nothing left to be said.

Did it kind of break anyone else’s heart that he had to be cut off??? I really enjoy listening to him speak and these were great topics. But I can’t be mad – I still love you Mr. Colbert… 😉😘
