Taibbi.substack.com reporter and co-host of Rolling Stone’s “Useful Idiots” podcast, Matt Taibbi, joins Bill to discuss the potential for fraud and abuse of the government’s economic bailout.

It’s HBO.
loved it
ReplyTrump want to stop “illegal” immigration not immigration. You left out an important word!

Hell yeah Matt is one of the few real journalists left in this country!
ReplyI remember writing letters to Matt when he ran the NY Press newspaper in the 90’s early 2000’s. Always responded. Put a few in the paper. Always smart and respectful. Man has class and character.
ReplyGood man
Replyfinancial instruments are people too, my friends. They’re our job-creators
ReplyMatt, please, don’t go on this show. Bill Maher is a fucking moron.
ReplyBill wished for a recession. Just remember that.
ReplyGreat listening to this reporter – now if only there was a way for him to show how Trump’s 6 bankrupticies (is it 6?) have been the perfect preparation for bankrupting our country – giving the wealthiest what they didn’t need and raising our deficit (like Republican admnistrations always do ) to record numbers. Of course, trump isn’t doing this alone – republicans are all for it, and are happy they have someone who allows them to do bad policy.
ReplyThis show is so much better without the audience.
ReplyI love you Matt!!! <3<3<3
ReplyThis is a rotten way to help the country. Fraudulent administration will see the average person starve while these big corporations make billions. The USA STINKS. People need to not fly see the air lines go out of business. Not use the Internet to shop or all local businesses will disappear. The population must take a grip on what is going on in the US and in many other countries. Trump wants the workers to return to work even if it means cat hing the virus. What if all these people die. Who is going to mend the economy. Governments do not have money unless the silent majority pay their taxes. If there are fewer people able to work then there will be less income from taxes. The super rich pay very little in taxes as they know how to cheat. The system stinks. God save America .
ReplyWhy doesn’t Real Time share the interview where Taibbi talks about the Americans press’s bias against Trump?
Replyit is now may 10th and the trump administration has given out more than $2 Trillion to big business bailouts. Money that workers will never see. Money that will again fill the fat cats pockets. Have you wondered why there were no democrats invited to the signing of the bailout documents??? I think it was because there is so much friggin dirty money laundering and stealing in that plan that it would make you want to puke. If munchkin is the one doling out the cash to big companies, you KNOW there is a lot of slight of hand going on. Disgusting, the millionaires get the billions in cash again, and the workers get $1200.. PERIOD.. so disgusting.
ReplyIt all needs to be explained better. Average person doesn’t understand what buying bonds and mortgages means or why. Also present it with what you would do instead. Don’t just laugh and criticize, what’s the alternative? Step up media experts share with us
ReplyIs Maher possibly the most obnoxious, loathsome, smug ass on the planet?
Watched only because Matt was on. Listening to Maher is like eating broken glass. I still had to bail halfway through
ReplyMatt Taibbi is actually the coolest
ReplyWHY WHY WHY DO WE ALLOW THIS BULLSHIT?! Why would bailouts to stock markets even work? Doesn’t that negate the risk and thus negate the reward?! Oh yeah cause we are dumb and poor and desperate 👍
ReplyMatt Taibi did not acknowledge the 1200 dollars if he is fair nor stock buybacks which was under Obama.
Replythey use the bail out

Reply“Matt Taibbi Realizes Democrats Are Authoritarian” 18 May 2020
https://moonbattery.com/matt-taibbi-realizes-democrats-are-authoritarian/
To the surprise of no countermoonbats, the Party of Big Government (i.e., the Democrat Party and its Siamese twin, the mainstream media) has revealed itself as the party of authoritarianism. Russiagate Obamagate and the ChiCom virus lockdowns have made this so obvious that even members of the liberal intelligentsia can’t help noticing — including Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibbi, who has written a piece entitled “Democrats Have Abandoned Civil Liberties: The Blue Party’s Trump-era Embrace of Authoritarianism Isn’t Just Wrong, It’s a Fatal Political Mistake.”
https://taibbi.substack.com/p/democrats-have-abandoned-civil-liberties 15 May 2020
Highlights:
Politicians and pundits across the last four years have rolled their eyes at attorney-client privilege, the presumption of innocence, the right to face one’s accuser, the right to counsel and a host of other issues, regularly denouncing civil rights worries as red-herring excuses for Trumpism. …
Blue-staters have gone from dismissing constitutional concerns as [a] Trumpian ruse to sneering at them, in the manner of French aristocrats, as evidence of proletarian mental defect.
Nowhere has this been more evident than in the response to the Covid-19 crisis, where the almost mandatory take of pundits is that any protest of lockdown measures is troglodyte death wish. The aftereffects of years of Russiagate/Trump coverage are seen everywhere: press outlets reflexively associate complaints of government overreach with Trump, treason, and racism, and conversely radiate a creepily gleeful tone when describing aggressive emergency measures and the problems some “dumb” Americans have had accepting them. …
[T]he [Kung Flu] crisis is also raising serious civil liberties issues, from prisoners trapped in deadly conditions to profound questions about speech and assembly, the limits to surveillance and snitching, etc. If this disease is going to be in our lives for the foreseeable future, that makes it more urgent that we talk about what these rules will be, not less — yet the party I grew up supporting seems to have lost the ability to do so, and I don’t understand why.
You can side with the bad guys. But you can’t side with the bad guys and pass yourself off to the mirror as a good guy. Not with today’s Democrats.
ReplyI like the format… Invite guests… let em talk and stfu n wait.
