I SO hope John gets into a situation soon where he needs the police’s assistance, hope they ignore him… sure a quick sodomising wont hurt him too much

Law and Order instrumentalising the murder of Eric Garner is disgustiiiiiiing. I used to watch shows like this religiously when I was in highschool. I am so glad I know better now and if I watch a show like this, I can reflect critically. I think there should be disclaimer that these shows do not depict reality and, more importantly, are more or less co-written by police departments (as are movies like Top Gun).

Another problem with L&O is that the bad guys are just that – bad guys. They aren’t “people” who are considered innocent until proven guilty. They’re bad guys who need to be stopped at all costs. This is how police see suspects when they learn their tactics from this show. Also why so many cops immediately become hostile when you know your rights. They think you must know a lot about your rights BECAUSE you expected an encounter with the police, and thus they believe you’ve obviously committed a crime.

Germany’s most popular police procedural show tried a few times to be more realistic, by showing investigations that failed. If I remember correctly, they even had at least one where they caught the wrong guy in the end.
Those episodes tended to end up the least favourite episodes of the show with the audience.
We as humans want that catharsis of good triumphing over evil.

The American public lives vicariously through it’s media. They want to be the good guys, the winners, the tough guy, the hero. They are just being led where their fantasies take them.

This is not a coincidence, many countries have this fake justice propaganda formula going on the TV.
It is very simple, sheeple just don’t see the difference between real and fake after they have bench watched for thousands of hours.
They know this works cause there are many TV cop series like this in a lot of countries.

Law & Order would be better if Olivia & Elliot be nude in bed together and tell one another how they feel. The rating will go off the roof. That’s the day TELEVISION will do history. Good bay NCIS, CSI, BLUE BLOOD, All these police series will be gone from tv. You’ll see those ratings will go rocket high.

The Fly Me campaign would work in Vietnam. That’s already slang – a young man who wants to have sex with older women is a “pilot” and the older women he has sex with are “airplanes.”
