    She wears a hijab because otherwise she’s an immodest western slut. How
    empowering to see a proud Muslim women who believes in a religion that
    makes her worth less then a man and dictates how to “properly” beat wives.

    I think her achievement as a fencer is commendable and she should be proud.
    But why emphasise the hijab part? Like by making a big deal out of it, it
    allmost makes it seem like wearing a hijab is somehow honourable. Like I
    dont care what people wear, you do you, but why does society have to
    celebrate it, even if its antithetical to our values? Cant it just be
    neutral? like , oh, its the first lady to compete wearing a nike headband.
