I take issue with part of the metaphor to which Professor Crenshaw alludes about glaring racists being treated like “bad apples.” You _know_ what farmers do with bad apples, right? With the trial of Derek Chauvin for the death of George Floyd, his attorney’s case was that he’s just a bad apple, _so he should be left in the bunch._
Keep to the metaphor. If we’re going to call these people “bad apples,” let’s _treat_ ’em like “bad apples.” That’s exactly the opposite of what we’ve been _doing._
‘ol floyd there well repeat after repeat of absolute trash yet so many mindless zombies think/speak/act/ as though he’s a martyr or hero or victim sad that so much of this country is willing blind and would rather turn on an electronic sad that so much of this country RUNS forward with things that are not facts to better illustrate their delusions and propaganda
I went out to visit family for Christmas and some people in my family are in the far right. Lets just say they are openly racist and embrace their ignorance. I don’t know if these kinds of people would ever allow teaching kids or even teens about the structures of racism. They really do think black and hispanic people are lesser human beings and don’t deserve the same rights as white people. The only reason I visited them was to see my younger siblings and I did talk to them in private to respect other people regardless of skin color. Honestly, the only hope we have is that we continue striving to teach our youth about racism. Its really the only way to stop it from continuing into future generations.
This was never a question for me and since my mind works this way and sees systems all over the place and their effects, I wonder how it is for others and they can be so caught up not seeing the big picture.
Anybody who says that the institutions of the United States are not historically racist in nature, is being at the very least disingenuous and more likely dishonest.
Yeah people really make it sound like if they’re talking about it then they become the victim when exactly as she said you’re looking at the system and how and why it’s perpetuating it
Quite a few things contributed to the death of George Floyd. There are a number of non-race related factors that could have been replaced and resulted in a different outcome.

ReplyThis interview needs a lot more context. I wish it had continued for another couple of minutes at least.
