Replyshe is also a huge phish phan!
ReplyAbuse is a sad and horrible thing so many of us have in common. My heart breaks for everyone who went through any form of abuse, especially as a child. But with truly loving support, it is possible to heal. Physically and emotionally. I have very strong opinions about abuse, but thank you for being courageous enough to share your story. Much continued success…another great interview Trevor, even though this topic is extremely hard for me to expose myself to.
ReplyThe news addiction ☹️//
ReplyThe transgender issue is something many of us are working on understanding. To me throwing away past feels unfair to me, forgiving the past, yes. just ignoring the past feels unfair to everyone else but the person wanting to ignore who they were and what they did. I often feel when ppl start feeling the truth they are transgender, the 1st thing they should do is work on therapy that heals their childhood wounds so that they make sure they love all parts of them before they just change the surface parts, because what’s underneath will always still be there waiting to be healed or accepted etc.
Being trans does not excuse abuse, and I am so sorry you had to go through that. However, there is no reason to misgender and deadname a transgender person anywhere, let alone on national TV. When talking about trans people, use their correct pronouns and name no matter what time period you are talking about: they were always trans, even before anyone else knew about it. This according to the GLAAD Media Reference Guide.
ReplyGotta love Katy Tur, thank you Trevor!
ReplyKaty, try forgiving him. (Even if you can’t bring yourself to telling him… ever) AND forgive yourself.
ReplyYou might be surprised how well that works.
That does not give license to journalists to report fake sensational news and defamation of religion, people just to get ratings and be the first. The journalists have failed reporting on Afghan war, refugee, collateral damage and consequences of twenty year war. Just reporting on the parts about oppression of women liberation and spreading democracy. It’s agenda based news opinions hiding the facts. It’s hard to trust and downfall of society when journalists become corrupt.
ReplyWow 👏. Thanks Trevor and Katie for sharing your story.
ReplyWow, another Simon & Schuster author booked on the Daily Show, right after Kellyanne Conway and Katie Couric in the last 2 weeks. These “interviews” are Paramount infomercials.
ReplyI think your parent has to understand she’s can’t erase her past as an abusive parent, a father-figure at the time. Katy, you deserve much more than “forget the past”. What happened to you as a child is still a horrible thing and your parent has to acknowledge that happened, and she can’t erase it. I hope you two can heal from that and work out your relationship, but if you need to take a break from her, please do.
