How was Coldplay’s performance bad? I thought they did a great job.

The superbowl turned into this so that wives can watch the game with their
    husbands.

A defensive battle is not a “bad game” You’d think a soccer fan would
    understand that

Angry with the half time show. I wanted all Coldplay! Also, I disagree that
it was bad game. It was a DEFENSIVE game! It doesn’t have to be bad just
    because it’s played defensively.

I’ve never seen so many coldplay fans in one place. Why are you all so
offended? It’s clear Beyonce and Bruno are more popular and they brought in
the ratings and Beyonces performance made headlines. Coldplay did good, no
one said they were bad so why all the bitterness.

Thank you John Oliver for hopefully, helping the haters understand what and
how big Superbowl is and what the NFL has done for/to the
sports-entertainment World. Yes, Football might not be as worldwide as
Futball, but damn, for a sports that’s played in only one freaking country,
it’s pretty good damn big. I don’t see soccer making that happen if it were
other way around. While soccer being as big as it is, it’s not even popular
in World’s top 5 largest countries.

The story would have been very different if Beyonce and Bruno Mars appeared
on stage alone without supporting dance groups, just like Chris Martin.

What a brilliantly hilarious recap of the Super Bowl. Not one radio show
had the comedic wit of John Oliver to break it down like this.

Heh, heh. I’ve never watched a Super Bowl in my life, or ever wanted to.
But then, I’m only 65, so there’s still time, I guess. (Not MUCH time,
    maybe, but some. I hope.)

Still, John Oliver and Seth Meyers? How could I not watch THAT? I didn’t
care in the slightest what they were going to be talking about, because I
knew it would be funny, no matter what it was.

I wonder what John will do for his show now? I mean he can’t use the 2015
excuse anymore. So what does everyone think his guilt-driven statement to
force people to feel morally obligated to agree with his opinions will be
    now?

It’s funny reading these coldplay fans talk about how awesome they are and
would have done a great performance… The reason they hired Beyonce and
Bruno Mars was because when it was announced coldplay would be headlining,
people were upset and not very excited about halftime. What a relief too
because the first half was such a snoozefest that had coldplay been there
by themselves, nobody would have watch the second half.

I only watch the half-time show (which I enjoyed as a fan of all three
artists). Football just doesn’t interest me. I wish soccer was a bigger
deal over here though. It’s so hard to watch games, especially for the
women’s teams. Channels that show them are scarce and sometimes you just
    have to live-stream it instead.

The game didn’t matter to the NFL,the only thing that mattered was the
money they took in and being politically correct. They had a black lives
matter chick with an agenda,a latin guy and a whiter then white group of
guys who looked out of place.

    Reply
  • Matt Britzius 3 years ago

It was a great game. I’m so sick of the layman’s bias towards offense. The
average fan grumbles if there aren’t 30 plus points in the first half.
Neither offense played terribly; both teams had championship defenses. The
broncos defense played better though, the most notable difference being
their ridiculous pass rush. The Superbowl 2 years ago was a bad game, even
though I was pulling for Seattle. This Superbowl was awesome.

Sad how John Oliver simpers and smarms over everything American now that he
has a job there. He wasn’t considered funny in the UK and had to resort to
the US to get a job. American football is played in one country (and Canada
a bit) and is a pale imitation of Rugby that is played across the whole
world and doesn’t use gay armor to protect players. The proper Football
world cup is the most participated in and most watched sporting event in
    the world (by a mile).

I pretty sure all of the laughing in this interview came from the two
people talking. There’s nothing Americans love more than an englishman
explaining the NFL to us. Personally, I was looking forward to seeing the
number one offense in the league go against the number one defense in the
league. I was looking forward to seeing whether or not Peyton could put up
enough points to ride off into retirement as a champion. I loved the game
because I appreciated the unbelievable performance by Denver’s defense and
the Broncos proving that defense truly does win championships in the NFL.
But if John Oliver tells me that the fly over and Lady Gaga mattered more
to me than the actual sport than he muuuust be right. Thank god he was
there to point out how ridiculous it all is. I guess I should switch to
watching soccer. Brilliant point Oliver, just masterful. You know, we need
more englishmen to come over here and explain things to us. If someone from
over there could come over and clear up the second amendment for us on a
major news network or something that would be greeeaaattt. Thank god Seth
Myers was there to laugh at Oliver since nobody in his audience was….per
    usual.
