John Krasinski Made “A Quiet Place: Part II” To Be Experienced In Theaters

John Krasinski returns to A Late Show as the first live, in-person guest in 14 months! He and Stephen agree that the ideal way to watch “A Quiet Place: Part II” is in the movie theater so you can be properly terrified by the sound design. #Colbert #AQuietPlacePartII #JohnKrasinski

One of the problems with the movie is with all the scientists in the entire world no matter how fast the monsters were killing people couldn’t figure out ways to stop them.

THE biggest problem is we are supposed to believe they survived on meteors and that sort of thing for millions of years??? Exactly what is their endgame if they kill all living life on Earth..wait for the planet to explode and then then spend millions of years floating around hoping they land on another inhabited planet?

It was just so bad I left halfway through the fist picture and now we are supposed to see another one?

    Nah.

just a lil thoughtprocess shared right here: dont you feel that the whole quarantine the whole pandemic and isolation made us better humans in being together once again? i feel like there is more humanity and more honesty in the eyes of these 3 people and the whole scene feels way more like humans , grounded back to whats important : relationship, kindness, love and happyness with each other? let me know what you think

7:16 to 8:12 – This segment is actually a great lesson on storytelling. We come to stories to relate to other people, even if that person is fictional. Making sure the audience is invested in the characters before the plot crashes down on them feeds into that need. Any writer who can pull that off is a rare breed.

Of course that’s why he made his movie. And, A QUIET PLACE was a great experience in the theater specifically because people shut up and let the sound design do its thing. But that was then, and this is now, and people have proven they don’t give a shit about quality communal experiences for others. They just wanna get their “Back to Normal” loud going. So, I’m gonna be skipping A QUIET PLACE: PART II and comforting myself with the knowledge that I’ve “Been there, done that” when it could be done, before I figured out “Normal America” is an effed-up, antagonistic place to be. You wanna be surrounded by an auditorium half-filled with Trump supporters, you do you, Boo.

So far, IMO, every studio release that has gone straight to streaming or a joint theatrical release/ streaming release has been crap. It’s the movies they have withheld from release for 1+ years are the ones they are banking on to make a boat load of money. A Quiet Place 1 wasn’t the best movie I’ve ever seen kind of rave but it was smartly done and well crafted which puts it well ahead of the pack.

I agree with John Krasinski’s take, this movie should ABSOLUTELY be seen in theaters. Not doing so waters down the experience..
But also.. theaters and their employees are struggling. And that’s gotta be something stars like John recognize and fight for if they want people to continue seeing them in theaters. Not just lip service but pressure studios into more theater friendly deals, better wages for employees at said theaters, and different experiences. I’ve been to movies a few times since things have opened up locally and customers are AWFUL towards employees, as in most retail and service industries, and they are simply unable to hire enough staff at Regal, AMC, and Cinemark theaters near me to run all showtimes because of the disgusting behavior of customers and lack of competitive pay. But theaters are being squeezed themselves so it’s 1 industry I actually do feel would be hard to just say “hey here’s a raise”.
Jonn likes to talk a lot about doing good for the world.. but his actions rarely meet up with his words.

Before I saw part one, my friend told me she went to see A Quiet Place in an empty theater, maybe 1 or 2 other ppl there. She said halfway through the movie she had to leave because the silence and tension was too stressful and any little sound she thought she heard terrified her.

My God, rarely do I see jumpscare movie clips during a talk show so I was not ready for that clip from A Quiet Place 2 at the beginning. It actually scared me.

Normally, the Host would be terrified for the guest to say so many F words. But its so weird to see Stephen so relaxed.

This is brilliant. Stephen and his wife, just hanging out with guests. It feels so much less scripted. Not that conversation on talk shows are necessarily scripted. This just feels like a small dinner party. A few people, hanging out, having a good time. This is so much better than a full studio, heavily edited episode! More please!

just notides how John talks about other people – wih respect and admiration. If it’s about him, he makes jokes and stuff, but about Emily, their kids, coworkers he never jokes, not even the very obvious sarcastis jokes. He’s great.
