Spotify didn’t make Joe mainstream. Joe has been mainstream for a long time. The old guard of media just didn’t recognize that they themselves are becoming fringe.

Joe Rogan has had more viewers than any CNN anchor for a long time. So why is CNN “mainstream” and Joe isn’t?

Joe Rogan was MAINSTREAM before Spotify… Spotify will NEVER offer $100mil to a fringe podcaster..this is utter nonsense bro.
Yes Joe said some weird, unscientific and even borderline racist stuff, just like YOU Trevor, you have said what Joe has said, sometimes even worse..so if you are gonna clean closets, start with your own.

Joe Rogan had more viewers on YouTube than MSNBC & CNN combined….not exactly sure how you qualify him as “fringe”.

Any white person who can be comfortable with the hard R is a racist point blank. He said it so casually

Joe Rogan: 11 million listeners an episode on average.
Daily Show: .66 million viewers on average.
CNN: ~1 million total viewers during prime time
Fox: ~ 1.5 million total viewers.

Who is mainstream? Looks like Joe Rogan is. The old media guard cannot stand to lose control and power.

Thing is, it was the mainstream media who made Joe mainstream. Also, the artists should take things up with their labels as well, since they’re the ones that negotiate the royalties in the first place (talking about signed artists).

What liberals fail to recognize is the value of tolerance. Liberals used to oppose intolerance. Liberals used to understand and agree that intolerance is evil. However, cancel culture by definition refuses to tolerate anything it deems offensive. That’s not progress, that’s close-mindedness. Because if we condone canceling anything offensive, then the wrong people get in charge and say that our speech is offensive, and boom, we live in an Orwellian nightmare. We tolerate so that, no matter who is in power, they cannot turn our intolerance back on us.

Roseanne should not have been cancelled for sending out one insulting tweet with racial overtones aimed at one liberal political figure. Whoopi should not have been suspended for daring to question, if Germans and Jews are both part of the Caucasian race, then it seems the Holocaust was motivated by some other kind of hate than racism (e.g., ethnic hate, religious hate, regional hate, but not race-based hate) which, frankly, is reasonable position since it is just a matter of semantics and does not in any way downplay the horror of the Holocaust.

Efforts to cancel Rogan for saying he has doubts about the Covid vaccine, or because YEARS AGO he occasionally made what he considered “innocent” uses of the n-word (i.e., he did not say the word to refer to a black person in a derogatory manner, but rather he used it when quoting a some one who used the word or when having an academic discussion about free speech), and he ultimately evolved YEARS AGO to the position that he should not even do that, and stopped doing that, and has not said the n-word in years, are intolerant, and misguided.

And, no, this is not partisan talk because I’m a raging left-wing progressive. However, I think too many progressives and liberals have lost sight of how free speech should trump people getting their feelings hurt, and opposing intolerance should trump opposing offensive speech. Intolerance applied to speech is particularly insidious.

Respectfully, he was not fringe when he went to Spotify. He was more mainstream than CNN, Fox, MSNBC and Comedy Central. Trevor I think you are reaching here.

Using Trevor’s analogy, it appears that 90% of the population lives in a nudist colony

Maybe in the media this is true, but look at statistics on public opinion. Woke is fringe, Rogan is mainstream.

They came for Joe Rogan now. They will come for you too when whatever you said today becomes politically incorrect in the future. This is a very difficult issue.
