If you haven’t seen Double Team (1997) watch it. It’s ridiculously amazing. The Coke machines is my favorite part.

ReplyIt was clearly a mistake for Van Damme to be pigeon holed as an action star. The cheesy/Orientalist late ’80s/early ’90s action movies were fun at the time, but his career fell apart when the genre died. But, look — he’s clearly really bright and charismatic and and funny. He’d have been better off as doing action comedy films like Jackie Chan or the Rock waaay earlier on. Not even as a “parody of himself,” like in Jean-Claude Van Johnson, but as a straight-up action comedy star.
