Stephen Colbert, the perfect choice to draw in a new generation of Late

does anybody know what the actual turnover in writers is expected to be?

i mean, fallon is just a bad imitation of leno, really. i was never a leno
fan, but i have to give him points for improv that fallon just does *not*
have. besides that, they’re more or less interchangeable, and one needs to
wonder if it’s basically because the writing team stayed put.

it’s an honest question, though. colbert made a big point about him leaving
his character behind, and i can’t help but think that also means leaving
his *writers* behind. meaning, it seems like he’s moving into a furnished
    apartment…

he might slowly get his own furniture over time. but i’m not sure it’s wise
to expect that much of a departure.

the closer that show premiere comes the more dread i feel about it. moving
from the colbert report to this generic talk show nonsense? colbert should
not have stood for such a demotion. adding a bandleader/orchestra just
makes it worse, shows how far he has fallen from the olympian heights of
    political satire.

    Reply
  • Chris R 3 years ago

if we’re lucky this show won’t be a late night talk show, but a parody of
late night talk shows. that might be worth watching.

Seeing Colbert adopt a band makes me nervous that he’ll adopt the typical
network late night format. If so, I’ll have to do what I used to do with
Letterman. That was watch the opening monologue to the first 20 min or so
before the guests and then watch something else. Colbert’s way too
refined, intelligent to have a celebrity parade, but since it’s an basic
network show, he might not have much choice. Still excited, though.
Whatever he does, it’ll be awesome compared to anyone else on the late
    night circuit (CC included.)

Here’s my deal, Stephen, if you’re reading this, which of course you’re not.
I get that you’re the new guy. I’m in. But why did ALL of the official Late

never had existed? WTF’s up with dat?
Is there anything you can do about that? I get that it’s a corporate

    appreciated. Thanks.

I’m so excited for his new show. After listening to his podcasts and all
the other skits he’s been doing. I now see Colbert as such a force of
improve and comedy. The jokes on their website are hilarious, it’s like The
Colbert Report’s delivery and style, but about normal every day things.

For me, he’s effectively been able to shed his character, and now comes off
as just this energetic guy who can come up with amazingly funny things to
    say.
