I have an idea: *Let’s use the empty plinths of the torn down confederate statues to put statues honoring these forgotten black women and the movements they started and contributed to*

And Native American women who still go completely unmentioned. But as 1% of all populations in America Native Americans are basically overlooked. We have the highest rate of police brutality among all races as well as the highest number of Missing and Murdered women.

Wow I never knew this. Thanks for sharing Black Women and our LGBQ+ community needs more respect. Not to mention all life came from mother Africa. So OUR (all humans) ancestral Mother is Black. I don’t think one race is better than any other but with Black people being treated how we are after Bringing forth life…. We need to do better all human life is worthy.

I watched the Ted talk for the “say her name” movement and was floored by the number of Black Women who were victims of police violence. BW are integral to Garvey’s movement, the civil rights movement, and the Black Panthers.

Trevor, you didn’t call the names of the women who started BLM, you just showed pictures. I was hoping you were here to highlight the women’s names. I like your voice, would want to hear you say it. Thanks.

It is the unfortunate truth that humans have a tendency to marginalise minorities. When you are part of only one (black or female), there is usually a group fighting for it (BLM or MT). However, within that group, the same tendency of marginalising minorities is present. So black women never get a chance to rise to the top until acceptance of at least one of the minorities is mainstream.

The way Breonna Taylor’s murder has essentially become a meme is a prime example of black women being an afterthought for many people.
