To many, low youth turnout is not a problem, it’s the goal. From moving voting booths to splitting congressional districts, politicians are doing all they can to lower voting numbers in young people. Kal Penn discusses why that is and what tactics politicians are taking in this edition of Long Story Short. #DailyShow #Comedy

State of Georgia has delivered absentee ballot to my college student consistently, two to three days AFTER the election. Youth voter suppression is absolutely real, coordinated, and inflicted .

    WE VOTE IN SCHOOLS!!

So, are they removing polling booths from schools?

That excuse to remove booths from college campuses was as lazy as my cats!

So the daily show is going to rip on its own audience now? I thought this was about how they suppress the youth votes and then y’all jump on the bandwagon and make fun of their intelligence too. Not sure how ya stuck it to them there Daily Show, just backed up the demoralizing with backhanded compliments. I feel like Daily Show is now is trying too hard.

Fantastic controlled opposition. Just vote every two or four years. Don’t organize. Don’t get involved your community. Just choose between billionaire-backed candidates and other billionaire-backed candidates and then go continue being a peasant for the rich and powerful.

In the early 90s I had to vote by absentee ballot which my parents mailed to me along with a list of their picks. I don’t remember whether I mailed it to whatever voting authority or if I mailed it back to my parents. I’m wondering about that quite a bit now…

Texas allows absentee ballots if you are out of your county at the time of the election.
I lived in South Florida & went to uni in Central Florida, & I voted by absentee ballot.
If you REALLY WANT TO VOTE, you will find a way to vote… do not give me any excuses!

The powers that discourage the young to not vote saying their vote don’t count will also push that young people shouldn’t get livable wage because they don’t count.

My first time voting was at age 18 (Bush/Gore) on the SDSU campus. Open to everyone and honestly, it opened my eyes bc I was only there to vote for Gore and didn’t pay attention to the other items on the ballot. An old guy in line by me (he was probably my age now, ha) kinda scolded me for not reading up on all the issues and said he spends hours researching. I have done that ever since and encourage others to do so. Don’t think kids don’t care!
