In South Africa our president Cyril Ramaphosa has been an exemplary leader. So proud and so grateful for all he has done to ensure our safety 🙏❤️

I’m in New Zealand, one of the few countries that hasn’t had massive previous recent epidemics and still managed to handle it well. How did we do it? We paid attention to the other countries who were handling it well and did a lot of what those countries did, the rest of the world ignored those countries due to racism, and then looked at us and went “Oh wow, somewhere handled it well! Look! Probably just because they are an island, covid must not like water”

My guess is that these numbers are incredibly under-reported in my region of Africa( the South).

Man i feel so let down with Tanzania right now, in the beginning, i felt so proud to be half Tanzanian right now because of how well several African countries took control of the virus. And then you get to Tanzania and i feel a sudden sense of shame. 🙁

Same thing with Taiwan: they had a SARS outbreak in the mid-2000’s, so they were prepared for COVID.

I´m not that suprised more than feeling released, because I was kind of worried though. In Africa a lot of things for easy spreading come toghter but than, everthing is just more freaking hughe and waste as the US is with an even bigger lag of infrastructure. But that also is the reason why I don´t know, if numbers are really as good as reported. Cities are the real concern in Africa, all the villages are far, far away with little transite between the cities due to little infrastructure, but that´s the reason for my question I don´t find any answere to “how does it look in the far spreading villiages in the waste lands trhough out all african countries? How do things look in a tiny villages a 14-16hrs or even more car ride away from testing facilities etc.? But I was really happy to see South Africa handling the big outbreak well, quickly and efficent. I know many people were devestated, because no work= no food and military was making sure they don´t going to work, but most countries did the same and african numbers are still looking good. My only concern is, it all started about 6 month after most other, so I hope they don´t catch up with our current situation down there and keep those numbers where they are. If anywhere in Africa numbers would get out of control like in the US, the entire continent will suffer from that, just due to the enormous size of Africa and the boarders of all it´s countries.

Hi Trevor. Farry here from Tanzania. Seeing the world go through Covid and wondering what happened here is baffling. At the moment hardly anyone wears masks, things seem to move on as normal except for bad business as TZ imports alot of consumables. Supermarket shelves arent as packed especially with things not coming from SA.

Those African Countries have a president that actually give a crap about the virus and what its doing to the people . Their federal administration isnt brushing it off every chance they get. For some reason Repunlicans in the federal goverment see it as a local problem that the mayors and goveneurs should primarily deal with. And I dont know why they are being so stubborn when it comes to a naational lockdown .

There’s a huge difference between Africa and the United States in regards to how often and how far people travel… it’s apples to oranges comparison for so many reasons.
