M Night Shyamalan!!
ReplyNo Aziz Ansari? This Master of None fan is now a sad man.
ReplyI always have a problem remembering names…. doesn’t matter where they are from.
ReplyExcellent work 🙂
ReplySo, your wiseass team knows mostly chinese peaple. Cool.
Reply24M??? That’s insane
ReplyMargaret Cho and Michelle Kwan. I’m Korean American, so they were the first ones I thought of.
ReplyNot a single south east Asian mentioned. Racist Colbert
ReplyI’d guess that a lot of people just had their minds blank when they were put on the spot.
ReplyThat’s definitely not a lot, compared to the non-Asians “celebrities”. Manipulating facts only worsen the current problem.
ReplyIsn’t Sandra oh Canadian??
ReplyCringe
ReplyFucking finally! America doesn’t know how many countries are in Asia and I’m glad you guys included everyone and not just south east Asians
ReplyI don’t mean to be a wet blanket but Sandra Oh’s Canadian.
ReplyWell, learned something about Tiger Woods today. Also learned that the Asian-Americans he names don’t overlap with who I’d name
ReplyWho’s this Don’t Know guy, are they related to Not Sure?
ReplyAsia is a place not a face.
ReplyKamala H
ReplyUmmmm …Sandra Oh is Canadian
ReplyI’m not too into pop culture so I didn’t know to many of these people. After Kamala and that Star Trek guy and that Margret comedian and the architect with the short name and the… failed.
ReplySingle Mom Makes $89,844/Yr in Her Spare Time on The Computer Without Selling Anything. you can bring from $5000-$8000 of extra income every month. working at home for 4 hours a day, and earning could be even bigger.
ReplyThe potential with this is endless…>>>>>> 𝗪𝘄𝘄.𝗡𝗲𝘄𝗔𝗽𝗽𝟳.𝗖𝗼𝗺
FFS… Jackie Chan isn’t American… people really need to diversify their environment if they can’t think of any famous Asian-Americans.
ReplyBut still lot of westerners think Asian means chinese.
ReplyAsian is not exclusive to East Asia. There are many other countries within the continent that vary from each other significantly. In fact east Asia forms a small part of the continent. There’s a misconception here in the United States that Asians must be oriental looking. I’m from South Asia and when I identify myself as Asian I get a look of surprise because I’m mostly mistaken with being white.
ReplyPat Morita and Jack Soo!
ReplyAwkwafina too
ReplyRelax, my fellow ethnic Asians, the survey wasn’t directed at you. Nobody is surprised that you know other Asian Americans. In fact, you’re expected to. No need to show off in the comments! 🤣
Reply(Although it wasn’t explicitly mentioned, I’m guessing the survey was conducted among Americans who weren’t ethnically Asian. Also, I’m guessing they weren’t allowed to Google.)
Wang Leehom 🙂
ReplyYou didn’t even mention Ming-Na Wen? Mulan herself?
ReplyWhat about michio Kaku
ReplyThe astrophysics
Jackie Chan is Asian-American is like saying French Fries is French.
ReplySandra Oh is Canadian.
ReplyMany more sports stars like Michelle Wie, Kristi Yamaguchi
ReplySong catchy as hell but what about Vice President Kamala Harris, since you included Mindy Kaling.
ReplyWhat about infamous director M. Niight Shyamalan?
Actor Dev Patel – slumdog millionaire.
Comedian Margaret Cho also missing.
Michael Cruz Kane: Are you related to that guy in “Kung Fu”?
ReplyIs the pole conducted in Alabama?
ReplyOnly #celebrities matter. I bet 99 percent of people can’t name one nurse…#greatjob!
ReplyNow let’s name Pacific Islanders! 😄
ReplyThis argument on “Who counts as Asian” is half your problem right there. Lucy Liu not being mentioned by people being polled feels sexist. Not saying it is but she is literally the token Asian in most movies and TV shows.
ReplySo Kumail Nanjiani, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Kamala Harris are not considered Asians? Or their names just don’t rhymes?
ReplyI’m not surprised that even in the comments here, apart from a handful of exceptions, most of the recalled names are from entertainment and pop culture. There are plenty of prominent Asian Americans who are/were state governors, district attorneys, government officials, politicians, astronauts, neurosurgeons, CEOs, sports people, journalists, educators …
Replyhonestly i’m just terrible with names in general
ReplyI was only listing the Indian Americans because apparently they couldn’t, but shout out to the greatest architect and designer of all time, Maya Lin. Thank you, Ms Lin, for the Vietnam Memorial. #RESPECT
ReplyWhat’s the original song? I’ve heard it a million times, but don’t know the name.
ReplyYou forgot our Vice-President Kamala Harris!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
ReplyThis is racist.
ReplyAgain, america, stop assigning other countries to americans. All that does is divide. You are literally discriminating based on race. It’s not endearing or charming.
If you have an american passport, you are american. Period.
This video is like an equal opportunity boss introducing a new employee by saying “Surpriiiiise, (s)he’s gaaaay! :D” It’s none of your business. Stop it.
I think the bigger issue is that people don’t think of prominent Asian people as prominent
ReplyHow could they forget Kamala Harris, LOL. She’s the veep!
ReplyWasn’t Michelle Kwan a household name in the 90s?
Reply_THEY GOT 2 LAWS ON D BOOKS_
ReplySo sad for this to even have to be pointed out.
ReplyI’m so glad you mentioned Yo Yo Ma. He’s an American treasure.
ReplyThis only proves Americans don’t see us as Asian Americans as Americans… We are foreigners to them.
ReplyWho the hell doesn’t know about Amy Tan and George Takei?!?!
ReplyThis made me laugh. Thank you.
Replyno Michio Kaku?…. Really??
ReplyDon’t forget Ronnie Chang!
ReplyThis is SO sad. To be fair, I immediately forgot every Asian American of note that I know of, even obvious ones for me like Philipa Soo, Daniel Dae Kim, and Lucy Liu. And as a Pittsburgher I can’t forget Troy Polamalu and Hines Ward!
ReplyAlso, I started rattling off Japanese wrestlers then realized this was for Asian AMERICANS. Whoops.
ReplyFor Pacific Islander they left out two of my favorites; Tulsi Gabbard and Mazie Hirono. (Senator Hirono is not just of Hawiian Citizenry but was born in Japan)
ReplyHe forgot Eugene Lee Yang.
