ReplyMargaret Cho and Michelle Kwan. I’m Korean American, so they were the first ones I thought of.
ReplyNot a single south east Asian mentioned. Racist Colbert
ReplyI’d guess that a lot of people just had their minds blank when they were put on the spot.
ReplyCringe
ReplyFucking finally! America doesn’t know how many countries are in Asia and I’m glad you guys included everyone and not just south east Asians
ReplyI don’t mean to be a wet blanket but Sandra Oh’s Canadian.
ReplyWell, learned something about Tiger Woods today. Also learned that the Asian-Americans he names don’t overlap with who I’d name
ReplyWho’s this Don’t Know guy, are they related to Not Sure?
ReplyAsia is a place not a face.
ReplyKamala H
ReplyUmmmm …Sandra Oh is Canadian
ReplyI’m not too into pop culture so I didn’t know to many of these people. After Kamala and that Star Trek guy and that Margret comedian and the architect with the short name and the… failed.
ReplyFFS… Jackie Chan isn’t American… people really need to diversify their environment if they can’t think of any famous Asian-Americans.
ReplyBut still lot of westerners think Asian means chinese.
ReplyPat Morita and Jack Soo!
ReplyAwkwafina too
ReplyWang Leehom 🙂
ReplyYou didn’t even mention Ming-Na Wen? Mulan herself?
ReplyWhat about michio Kaku
ReplyThe astrophysics
Jackie Chan is Asian-American is like saying French Fries is French.
ReplySandra Oh is Canadian.
ReplyMany more sports stars like Michelle Wie, Kristi Yamaguchi
ReplySong catchy as hell but what about Vice President Kamala Harris, since you included Mindy Kaling.
ReplyWhat about infamous director M. Niight Shyamalan?
Actor Dev Patel – slumdog millionaire.
Comedian Margaret Cho also missing.
Michael Cruz Kane: Are you related to that guy in “Kung Fu”?
ReplyIs the pole conducted in Alabama?
ReplyOnly #celebrities matter. I bet 99 percent of people can’t name one nurse…#greatjob!
ReplyThis argument on “Who counts as Asian” is half your problem right there. Lucy Liu not being mentioned by people being polled feels sexist. Not saying it is but she is literally the token Asian in most movies and TV shows.
ReplyI’m not surprised that even in the comments here, apart from a handful of exceptions, most of the recalled names are from entertainment and pop culture. There are plenty of prominent Asian Americans who are/were state governors, district attorneys, government officials, politicians, astronauts, neurosurgeons, CEOs, sports people, journalists, educators …
Replyhonestly i’m just terrible with names in general
ReplyI was only listing the Indian Americans because apparently they couldn’t, but shout out to the greatest architect and designer of all time, Maya Lin. Thank you, Ms Lin, for the Vietnam Memorial. #RESPECT
ReplyWhat’s the original song? I’ve heard it a million times, but don’t know the name.
ReplyThis is racist.
ReplyAgain, america, stop assigning other countries to americans. All that does is divide. You are literally discriminating based on race. It’s not endearing or charming.
If you have an american passport, you are american. Period.
This video is like an equal opportunity boss introducing a new employee by saying “Surpriiiiise, (s)he’s gaaaay! :D” It’s none of your business. Stop it.
I think the bigger issue is that people don’t think of prominent Asian people as prominent
ReplyHow could they forget Kamala Harris, LOL. She’s the veep!
ReplyWasn’t Michelle Kwan a household name in the 90s?
Reply_THEY GOT 2 LAWS ON D BOOKS_
ReplySo sad for this to even have to be pointed out.
ReplyI’m so glad you mentioned Yo Yo Ma. He’s an American treasure.
ReplyThis only proves Americans don’t see us as Asian Americans as Americans… We are foreigners to them.
ReplyWho the hell doesn’t know about Amy Tan and George Takei?!?!
ReplyThis made me laugh. Thank you.
Replyno Michio Kaku?…. Really??
ReplyDon’t forget Ronnie Chang!
ReplyAlso, I started rattling off Japanese wrestlers then realized this was for Asian AMERICANS. Whoops.
