ReplyImmediately and uncharacteristically disingenuous about the nature of the American Police state. You know, the war on drugs, highest incarcerated population in the world, civil asset forfeiture…. institutional racism and police brutality being hot button issues….a large section of the country would be happy to lock up or execute people for having or preforming abortions…But no america is not a police state, and is in zero danger of becoming one. Who wants to hand over their gun first?
Tune in next week to hear about how we should defund the militarized police force in order to afford greater mental health services….
Some idealogical consistency would be nice, or us that not a thing anymore?

ReplyI’m so glad John Oliver got his own show, because he’s an outstanding journalist and comedian. Now we need to give Roy Wood Jr a show and to bring back Jordan Kleppers show too! It’s awesome how they can make us laugh at the horrific policies that dictate our lives.

ReplyGreat specials. You guys are tops. My first 22 yrs were half in USA, and half in Europe (Uk, France, Italy, Denmark, Spain). I’ve seen, up close, the differences between the two groups of people. Americans are more prone to bullying, pig-headedness, callousness and gun-worship. Much of it due to aggrandizement of cowboy myths, but also has a lot to do with paranoia and fear. Listen to any Republican politician on a stump, and you’ll hear about fear.
