One critic wrote of this film “”… the weakness of this picture, from this reviewer’s point of view, is the sentimentality of it …” that should tell one a lot about what critics think.
ReplyGet well soon Stephen Colbert.
ReplyThis is great. Please keep doing it!
ReplyMy three favorites are:
The Quiet Man with John Wayne,
You Can’t Take it With You with Jimmy Stewart,
And It’s a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart
ReplyWhat a joy and treasure these two are.
ReplyHoping Stephen is gonna be back and must disagree. Casablanca
ReplyWhere is Stephen? Why all these ancient clips? My God he takes a huge amount of vacation for someone who gets paid multiple millions annually. Is he sick? Is Evie? One of the kids?
ReplyHe seems to disappear without saying why a LOT lately.
He’s taken more time off since the start of this years than I had in 45 years of working. And I wasn’t paid multi-millions.
Could he at least consider showing up for work?
BTW this clip is an old one. Stephen’s gone so much now that they’re digging to the bottom of the trunk in that attic.
At least A Closer Look has been excellent this week. And Kimmel.
Go back to your umpteenth vacation Stevie. The other networks have you covered.
My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
ReplyI dunno…
ReplyThey must have never seen
…A Serbian Film…
Now THAT’S a quality flick!

tho, a close second would have to be….
Eraserhead
… Absolute Classic!
I almost killed myself when I 1st saw that film. I was out of the service, lost a chance to publish with Introduction by William Ginsberg & Ken Kesey, lost a University Art Endowment that was worth $10 to 15,000 a month (by todays standard) for anything I wanted to do, lost a ‘real working Ballet dancer…. and never ever got any better, and now 50 years later like MILLIONS of Americans I live basically in the STREET while LIARS and FAKERS and PEOPLE carrying GUNS with MADMEN and QAnon huskers…. Were the Best Years of Life.
ReplyThese two have me tearing up reflecting on this movie. Great pick!
ReplyA christmas carol with Alistair Sim.
ReplyOh it’s sweet enough I suppose, if you live inside to begin with…
ReplyThat was great.
