ReplyA few years ago, I had a roommate and his daughter. They came to live with me out of sheer desperation – my roommate was fired from his new job that he came to my town for. Without me, my roommate and his daughter would have been homeless. I took them in and we lived as a surprisingly happy family until my roommate got a good job in a different state. During that time, my roommate was on food stamps and unemployment. Never had my refrigerator been so FULL – and it’s not because I don’t have money (I’m actually wealthy). The typical American throws out 40% of his food, and my roommate was a typical American. He’d cook stuff – and then I’d take his uneaten leftovers and recook them into new forms because I’m a skilled home chef. My roommate watched me, then said “You are the most frugal person I’ve ever met, it’s like you are from hundreds of years ago or something”. So I (a wealthy landowner with a good job and no debt) was being told I was “frugal” by a guy on food stamps!

ReplyI’m from Kenya. We call 911 to have the police come and confirm that indeed what happened happened. It’s not to rescue. We call 911 an tell dispatch that your husband’s been shot, police will show up to confirm that indeed he’s been shot.
