ReplyMy mother was a huge fan of Mahalia Jackson, so I grew up with her music. When Mahalia came to the Netherlands, my mother went to her concert. When came back she was very emotional about it.

ReplyI remember when Whitney Houston passed away I was reading about her life and how Aretha Franklin was a close friend of her family when she was young. Then a few years ago when Aretha Franklin left us I read how when she was young Mahalia Jackson had been a friend of her family and an influence and role model for her. It’s really interesting to think about that kind of powerful influence being passed down through the generations…
