Dear reader, you may want to take a moment to appreciate the astounding production quality of this YouTube video. One small example: watch the transition from full frame to the trailer.

Especially notice the yellow status bar at the top of the embedded video and the transition to a yellow background on which is placed a recommended YouTube video. The entire sequence is great, but the detail that takes it to the next level: everything up to the yellow background is controlled by the video editor and is part of the video, but the seamless overlay of the YouTube recommended video is not controlled by the video editor. Instead, the video thumbnail is placed there by your web browser or YouTube app. The manager of the YouTube channel had to line up the timing so that everything felt continuous.

That requires a lot of forethought, planning, _communication,_ precision editing, and Goldilocks alignment of the settings on YouTube—just right.

These details are of the type that if they are done well, then very few people should notice them. It’s a weird thing to be at the top of your game but not receive recognition precisely because you are at the top of your game.

To Norton’s creative team: I happened to notice _some_ of your creativity, and I award you my respect.

(Which won’t help your career or your salary. Or your personal life, or even your self-esteem. I mean, you could print this comment and pin it to your cubicle wall, but you’d still have a cubicle wall, you know? That might actually be a little depressing. Hmm, I’m starting to wonder whether my “recognition” might give you talk-therapy appointments instead of giving you warm fuzzies. Uh, good luck!)
