If you ask me the whole prison system needs to be abolished entirely. Prisons serve corporations not people.

I ❤ her, she is strength and intelligence. Look at her story and how racism and sexism almost ruined her life. And look at what she has done through all of that injustice and horror. She is amazing!

Listening to her, I’m feeling a since of reprogramming. I always knew what she went through was wrong, but the things she brought up I can see how I could’ve went along with the “normal” train of thought.

People keep arguing about whether or not she was really a victim. Honestly it doesn’t matter if she was a victim or not, teenagers and children should NOT be sentenced to LIFE in prison. That is too harsh of sentence for a youth who isn’t even old enough to vote yet. How can you say someone is not competent enough to vote and drink but competent enough to commit a crime? It’s absolutely ridiculous. Glad she’s out

I’d actually like to see the full case. Because for all we know (let’s all be honest none of us have the time to read every word of the court transcript) the prosecution could have been very well qualified and her defence lawyer could have been incompetent.

The criminal INJUSTICE system in this country is ravaged with racism, sexism, bias, and class bias. Combine that with corruption and you have a 3rd world criminal injustice system masquerading as the first world, best system in the world.. Yes it’s the best. The best at incarcerating the most people in the world. It’s the best at incarcerating people based on the color of their skin. It’s the best at incarcerating poor people and letting the rich and connected go free. It’s the best at sentencing people of color for longer sentences for the same crimes that white people commit. Yes, I will agree. It is the best..

Great segment! Stories like hers really humble me when I think my life is going poorly and all I have to worry about is soul-crushing debt. She’s a far stronger person than I to make it out of her situation to the other side.

This kind of content is so emotionally jarring, Trevor is one of the few interviewers where you know the interview is not going to be exploitive for likes/ratings and you can listen to the message of the interviewee.
