ReplyThe best parenting advice I ever got was from an old employer. He had 3 grown children of his own and I was a new first-time father.
ReplyHe sat me down after one of my ‘What-if-I-screw-him-up?’ episodes and looked straight into my eyes. He said, “Kiddo, take it from me, you can relax because they are HARD to kill,”.
Keep your chin up and may god have mercy on your souls. Oh and take some pics.

Do NOT cut the umbilical cord until it stops pulsing! That is valuable, rich blood that will protect the baby. Medicalized births do not do what is best for mom and baby, only what is convenient and expedient for the doctor, hospital, and staff.

EDIT: The reaction of both Sona and Matt to Conan saying “Go with God” was maybe the most hilarious thing I’ve seen all year.
ReplyWhen Sona said she had caesaran, I was relieved that she wasn’t given an episiotomy for the twins. Then I remembered the Bill Engvall bit: “Episiotomies?!? I didn’t know we could have cocktails in here. I’ll take TWO!”

That little ad lib alone is what makes the chemistry between Sona, Conan and Matt so appealing. And it’s even more amazing that they still click and gell even though they’re all in three separate locations.

WOW. I don’t have kids, and I have zero interest in ever having kids, but Conan’s advice near the end legitimately got me choked up. It felt like he was talking directly to me. Incredible
