The real question is why tech companies where, by definition, access to all the work is done via the cloud, are forcing employees back into the office
It’s upper management being out of touch and forgetting that not everyone gets to set their own hours or might want to see their families more. I bet the heads of those companies will still work as they want, whether in the office or remotely at their own whimsy.
It’s asshole behaviour used to reinforce and demonstrate where the power lies. It’s unfortunate, but I think eat the rich will probably stay a slogan rather then an action.
At least a lot of people have jobs to go back to. It will be strange to go back to work if a lot of your coworkers died from covid . Things will never be the same again.
