Stephen’s good friends Cheap Trick, the masterminds behind the legendary theme song for “The Colbert Report,” make their Late Show debut with this hard-rocking single off their brand new album, “In Another World,” which is out now! #Colbert #TheColbertReport #CheapTrick
These seasoned boys delivered and did not disappoint.
ReplySomeone tell the director to quit cutting shots….Yikes!!! Is he being paid by the shot!!! Cuts camera every two seconbs….Terrible.!!!
ReplyThese dudes are so cool. Still have it after all these years.
ReplyAnyone know who the masked guitarist was? I have a suspicion but may be totally wrong. I once saw this person guest with another band, sitting on a stool towards the back just like here.
ReplyOr maybe the TD ( switcher ) has parkinsons.🤔😁😎🎵🎶
ReplyThanks Stephen Colbert!
Replydamn they sound good

ReplyAmazing performance by an amazing band. Thank you Cheap Trick!
ReplyBack when I first heard of Cheap Trick, I could still have afforded tickets to one of their concerts! Not so much, these days…
ReplyStill got it!
ReplyDespite no Tom Petersson or Bun E. Carlos, they still kicked it! Lucky to see many a gig in Australia in the 80s and 90s, and meeting the band still a life highlight. An original ‘Southern Girl’ 🎸🤘

Replyif its not “bun e carlos” on drums….sorry its NOT cheep trick.
ReplyPart of me wants to say “Leave Rock to the young”, but Cheap Trick still has it. Well done Guys! PS, Great to see Rick Nielson play again.

Replyno bass? weird.
Replyi recognize those guitar riff’s, but i cant pin point them. it also sounds like rick and billy gibbons are sharing.
ReplyThank god for cheap trick and ACDC
ReplyStarts like ZZ Top, goes in to Duran Duran. Then ?? A touch of The Police?
ReplyThey’re still playing? They look like zombies and they’re still as banal as ever.
ReplyLove it🎶❤🎶🕊
ReplyThey really should’ve upped his mic… but still very enjoyable..
ReplyRobin’s got a little bit of a Ronnie Van Zant look here
ReplyLove this song! Curious why Zander isn’t playing the rhythm guitar. Is this a new thing with his son playing this role from now on? I always thought of Cheap Trick as a 4 piece band:)
ReplyTom sitting on this one … hope he is okay. Steve Priest of Sweet used to do this as he got older and his health began to fade.
Got to get this album 🙂
Still got it!
ReplyFantastic! Love love love you guys. It’s like the eighties never left.
ReplyLoved cheap trick, but isn’t this plodding and rather sad?
ReplyWho is the guy standing in Tom’s spot and why is Tom sitting in back!
Replythey should have done the “that 70s show” theme lol
ReplyMay I please get my highlighted comment thumbs up?
Replywhy was Peterson playing sitting down and wearing a mask?

Replythese guys never disappoint….if you ever get a chance to see them live ….just do it….I have many times and am always impressed …every single time.
ReplyGet better soon Tom, much love to you
ReplyCheap Trick without Bun E Carlos is like the Beatles without Ringo. Sure someone else can provide the beat, but it just ain’t the same.
ReplyThey’ve delivered again.Like it a lot!t!

ReplyBit cringy though being out of tune. Reach up there, turn that key. Geezus.
My home town boys! That was awesome!

ReplyThank you Stephen for inviting the legend Cheap Trick. The band was one of my favorites during college years in Michigan. It will be a treat to invite great music legends from 70s and 80s times. Thank you again🙏🏻
Replythe beginning kinda reminds me of blister in the sun by violent femmes
ReplyTom is sitting down and wearing a mask because he had open heart surgery about a month ago. A true rock warrior.

ReplyDaxx is an official band member. But is that guy on the right Robin’s kid? A nepotism hire?
ReplyGreatest American band ever
ReplyFor those who don’t know: the first 25 seconds were the good old “Colbert Report” intro theme. 🙂
ReplyHoly shit. That was awesome. I don’t know how these old guys do it. Keep on rockin” I guess they STILL want to be wanted.
ReplyALWAYS… been my American Beatles, since the beginning! Still have IT, BUT… I’m a HUGE Bun E. FAN & this just hurts w/out. Bun E. Carlos IS CHEAP TRICK
ReplyI’ve been in Tom’s shoes, no, not in the band with Cheap Trick, but the open heart surgery thing, been there done that. I know where he’s coming from.
ReplyI met them after a club show in Houston back in the day. We were so drunk they commented on how drunk we were. We couldnt remember where we parked and reported the car stolen , then found it and somehow made it home.
ReplyBridges was here Ohio rocks sneakers n shades
ReplyI can never stop loving this band.
ReplyBun?
ReplyThe chorus reminds me of “Street Fighting Man”. The song definitely rocks big time.
ReplyI’m glad the drummer isn’t a Bun E look alike in appearance and style, but he was the Ringo Starr of Cheap Trick.
ReplyThe band GLITTER DOGS is similar, but better.
ReplyI saw these guys in 1977. I caught one of Rick Neilsen’s picks. I had a Cheap Trick t-shirt that I wore until it looked like spider web. I love this band.
ReplyThe lads are sounding killer and the lads of the lads are a great asset to the family business!
ReplyLove love love from a lifelong fan!

ReplyIt’s not Cheap Trick without Bun E. Carlos sorry 🙂 Good to see them still pluggin away nonetheless!
ReplyI still have my Cheap Trick guitar pick 🎸 ☺
ReplySounded great.
Reply“gonna buy an old tour bus full of new guitars”…Richard Nielson inspired that lyric in the Nickelback song, he was even in the Guiness book of World Records for his guitar collection.
ReplyThe last band standing… from the 70’s, that is. Rock on forever Cheap Trick. Much love to all of you.
ReplyLove Cheap Trick!!! I can’t Stand Colbert.

ReplyStill cranking some awsome music! Heard something on the radio that they might be up in N.Mich to do some shows maybe later in the summer. Definitely go if they do!!!
ReplyThis is the worst camera work I’ve ever seen — anywhere.
ReplyCheap Trick aged well!

ReplyWho is the other guy playing guitar in the right (not Tom)? Anybody know?
ReplyThis is terrible let’s be honest.
ReplyI love these guys so much that I tolerated twit Colbert’s opening just to hear them.
ReplyThey exemplify rock and roll. They sound the same and better than the 1980s, and a lot better than most of todays music.
Replyglad they are making new music but wish bun e was there
ReplyI love Cheap Trick !!!!!
ReplyNot a lot of love for Tom, camera-wise, but overall a great set!
ReplySo you CAN be too old to rock and roll.
ReplyI can still remember the first time I heard them: it was 1979 in San Antonio and some guy put on “Surrender”. I could not get enough. I have seen them live and they are electric. After seeing this, I would see them again. Robin and Rick, if you read this come out to San Diego this summer. The Observatory is a great venue.
ReplyCheap Trick still has it for a bunch of old Dudes. Jesus, when did I get old?
ReplyF*ing AWESOME– NEW LP ROCKS!!!❤
ReplyTake it eaaaasy, Tom, we need you!!! Roll down the window Robin, you sound better than ever you sexy Rock God–damn you’re gorgeous man hair looks great!!! Rick, jaw dropping great riffs, you still got what it takes, hon! Dax you belt it out, baby!!! Robin Taylor, you are a multi talented hurricane, son. Yall hurry back now from down under, we need you high rollers in Texas!!!🥰
ReplyRick Neilson is a great guy! I saw them a thousand years ago when they just started getting known and caught one of Ricks guitar picks that he throws to the audience. 30 years later I had a chance to see them perform Sargeant Pepper for a charity event. I went up to Rick after the show and told him the story of seeing them all those years ago and catching that pick. He was so gracious and took a picture with me and my wife and then gave me another guitar pick. It’s great when your heroes live up to your expectations. Love Cheap Trick,
ReplyYay Cheap Trick!
ReplyI bought the álbum there are so Many gems in it. Loved the title Sony in another world and the rock songs. The last song “gimme truth” sounds like a Lennon song. Get the álbum, won’t regret it. Hello from old México! Daxx is an excelente drummer!!!
ReplyIs that Daxx Nielsen, Rick’s son, on drums?
ReplyNo talking or make believe opinions from Stephen and only introduce guests
ReplyToo bad Bun E. Carlos is no more with them playing drums…
ReplyCheap Trick does song; Boys and Girls and Rock and Roll.
ReplySong about their grandchildren.
as the stage fog settles and the spotlights fade and the last Groupie visits the free clinic, Robin Zander will still be Greatest Rock Frontman of ALL TIME
ReplyThe one riff in this song reminds me of The Police-Synchronicity II. Not knocking it, but that’s the first thing I heard when that note hit. Glad these guys are still performing after all these years. They were my first “rock concert” in the mid 90’s 👍👍👍
