Charles Blow, “The New York Times” op-ed columnist and author of, “The Devil You Know: A Black Power Manifesto,” describes how the balance of power in the U.S. government might have looked had the Great Migration of Black Americans to Northern states never taken place. #Colbert #TheDevilYouKnow #CharlesBlow
I’ve enjoyed Charles Blow’s columns in the NYT for years but have never had the opportunity to hear him speak until today. Thanks for having him. ❤️
ReplyI love Atlanta. Used to live there. This was an interesting interview. 💛
ReplyWith the last name Blow, you can never name your son Richard.
ReplyI used to love watching him on CNN
ReplyHe does not suffer fools gladly….
The south is changing.. and America is changing. Much to the GOP’s chagrin.
ReplyFor some reason, all of a sudden I can hear Stephens South Carolina clearly, even though he’s talking like he always has.
Also: the video clip Stephen says he’s going to do next apparently doesn’t exist on this channel…
ReplyWow, so there would have been democracy instead of voter suppression.
ReplyCan’t be mad at all!!🧘🏽♂️
ReplyMove to Alaska they pay u to stay there
ReplyWhile you’re at it, colonise West Virginia. Turn Coopers Town into an exo-suburb of DC and take back West Virginia for working people who think.
ReplyInteresting, but I can’t get it out of my head that this isn’t our land, and I want this continent filled with Americans again. So most of people who aren’t “Native “American are going to have to leave. They have the right to exist!!
ReplyBill Maher once said something to Jay Z about “buying” Wyoming, the way GOP billionaires are able to buy influence in whole states
ReplyAmerica’s melting pot was just crowned with white whipped cream of resentment and resolve to change everything with their own “democracy” and speeches of the free!
ReplyHe lost me when he dropped Hillary’s name. She is the sole reason Trump got elected in 2016.
ReplyI read the article weeks ago, but hearing Charles Blow speak is even better. I like his ideas for a new South, but more white people – North and South – need a change of attitude. It could be a great country for everyone.
ReplyImagine if Al Gore had had won instead of Bush, imagine what that would have meant for the environment.
Plus: Bush made Trump possible – lowered the bars – destroyed education, worked a recession…
ReplyIt’s poetic justice for black people to have strong leadership opportunities in the South. Maybe racists will say “what were we so afraid of?”
Replygreat voice
ReplyInspiring gentleman.
ReplyI was born in South, I am so happy to hear the south is finally growing up, Yes I’m white and in my ’60s, I remember when I was a kid the story that went around town about how the KKK got drunk decided to go out and bully people and they were in their white drab with torches and one of them tripped caught another one on fire and the big joke around town was why did so-and-so have burns all over him and didn’t go to work… But everybody knew…
