Her intelligence, accuracy and bringing these presidents to life as human is why I love this woman. And she’s not stuffy or arrogant. I could listen to her speak all day!

Lincoln did good things but he openly held supremacist beliefs (it was normal then, I know). A thought that makes me cringe is if you brought past presidents back, would they look out for the majority (based on equity for all, doing what helps the majority) or would they act on behalf of some, leaving the rest of us to fend for self ( think war on drugs, gi bill, jim crow era politics and law enforcement)?

Are Americans actually capable of voting to better America or are we subject to those who will only vote in favor of personal interest? We collectively can’t even agree on facts vs opinion and think giving our poorest more means taking away what others have earned and giving them less. Can we be just as a collective? The evidence is underwhelming as I watch books get banned, parents protest topics that aren’t taught or that they themselves dont even understand, and scientists and doctors retire out of frustration and fatigue.

No, they don’t care. They only want to win their elections and have the power and benefits of working for the federal government.

Nothing can compare with the Academy Award performance of the greatest male actor of recent times, Daniel Day Lewis, as the great leader and savior of our nation, Abraham Lincoln. Stress R Us

This is the only interview worth anything but a good laugh that Stephen has done in memory.

Thank you, Doris Kearns Godwin. If President Lincoln were here, he wouldn’t argue with that. You’re a fine American historian!

People are very short sighted. They do not care about their legacy. People are walking talking sacks of garbage.

Love Doris. Her books are the best! One difference with today and the past: current politicians make mega bucks.
