How does he not understand that these kids are going to transmit the virus?
Smdh. One person went into a nursing home and in a month, 23 ++ people are dead that would have otherwise been alive still today to spend that time with their families.

It feels so nice to not read anything bad being said about Deblasio in the comment section. Not because I am a fan of him but because it is so annoying. New Yorkers seem to blame him for anything that happens here. I bet they even blame him for the virus. They are so bitter and angry. They have the nerves to tell you you’re just trying to be a victim whenever you complain about something when the real people who are acting like victims about everything are them. They’re pathetic.

Kids may be ‘safe’ but they’re little germ reactors. Go be an elementary teacher for a day!

Uhmn, Puerto Rico didn’t have power for months… Katrina etc… but we can’t treat this like a true disaster. I guess nature will set us right then.

Kids can have corona without symptoms and then infect their parents and grandparents. So closing school is not just about kids themselves. This guy’s remarks are so one-sided.

5 paid sick days? Better than nothing, but still ridiculous. In my country, all sick days are paid, even if you are sick for months.

Kids are a factor.. Yes they will not be a factor in mortality rates, but they are huge germ carriers and they will kill grandparents! (Granted not of their own free will) .. But when they get sick who does mom or dad ask to help?? Yep RIP..

All this is just fear mongering to panic the population. Soon there will be a vaccine where big pharma will make trillions

Perhaps healthy children are not seriously affected (though I’m not sure you can bank on that to start with), but what about the many children with serious health problems? Children whose immune systems are already stressed or damaged could die of this disease! Plus, as others have said, asymptomatic children could infect and even kill their medically frail siblings and friends, their parents, grandparents, neighbours, caregivers and so on. Keeping them from school isn’t just for them it’s for the vulnerable. Likewise healthy adults need to be thinking of the welfare of others and not making selfish choices at other people’s expense. We show our humanity in how we care for the most needy.
