ReplyAmerica will stand up against unfair trade practices…what he means is America will prevent other countries using the same practices America used to develop its own economy to world pre-eminence in the late 19th century.
And of course trickle down economics has worked – but only if you look at it from a global perspective and even then over at least a 20 year period. Ultimately the increase in prosperity in poorer countries will benefit the US economy, but ultimately might be decades in the future and in the mean time there will (and has been) a dislocation in the US economy particularly in the lower end of the manufacturing sector
