So…where’s Fox ranting that Biden isn’t doing a press conference about how he just stuck one to “big pharma” that they allegedly hate because they are in bed with Dems?? How else are we supposed to know Biden’s actually doing something without him bragging about it every waking second????

Pharmaceutical companies should be ashamed of themselves. Banting and his team who developed insulin and sold the patent for a mere $1 as they felt to get rich off a life saving drug was immoral would be disgusted by the price gouging that goes on today. People who knowingly push this agenda of profiteering at the expense of human lives are soulless people.

Way to overstate the minimal efforts being made by the Biden admin there Seth. The administration initially opposed the patent waiver when proposed by India and SA in WTO. And right now they announced that “US is open to negotiations”. They are also yet to announce any proposal to ask Pharma companies to do tech transfer or lift the embargo on export of raw materials for vaccines. I get you wanna bash on republicans in every segment but do not present half the evidence and portray that the US govt. is now holier than god all of a sudden.

It’s not smart to put it all in on one man. At Trump’s age and proximate health things can happen quickly. We’re he incapacitated there is no one who can reach his crowd. Bankrupt and busted! I guess a lot of Republican pols think they fit his shoes!

Careful with giving too much credit to biden. It’s a great step but they support negotiations, not the actual waiver

Funny piece, but why is it a bad thing that pharma companies get paid for stopping COVID? We reward bankers, athletes, and social media companies … maybe we should also reward the people who saved millions of lives?

A policy hint. If you really want to shake up big pharma and reduce bankruptcy from pharmacy costs:
Australia has few state taxes and no state income tax- most people who own houses see only land tax and water and council rates. The top federal annual personal tax rate (at AU$180,001 and over) is $51,667 plus 45 cents for each $1 over $180,000. Government makes bulk deals with pharmaceutical companies, then subsidises in-chemist costs for approved medicines. For poor, 5 vials of insulin cost no more than AU$6.60, for other residents no more than AU$41.30. Maximum annual family costs are interesting:
” The 2021 PBS Safety Net threshold is:
    $316.80 for concession card holders
    $1,497.20 for general patients.
Before you meet the threshold, each medicine will cost:
up to $6.60 for concession card holders
up to $41.30 for general patients.

Once you reach the threshold, you’ll need to apply for a PBS Safety Net card to get cheaper medicines. Your medicine will then either:
be free for concession card holders
cost up to $6.60 for general patients.
When there are 2 or more brands of the same medicine, they may have different prices. If you choose a more expensive brand it may cost you more.
You can combine family individual limits to cover the whole household.”

India has its own vaccines. I know they do. It was on the news. Indian news channel too. So what is the point here? How is this measure on the part of the US going to help?

Sad! Trump’s lies all the time but some or all of Trump’s supporters would only care what Trump said even if he is not telling the truth. Even if he paid women for sex while he still married to his third wife and grab women by their genitals, and most women who supported Trump doesn’t care☹️

It actually is a stupid idea to lift intellectual property rights. Nobody will invest in research anymore and thrid world coountry won’t be equipped to produce on their own anyway. Sounds good in the first moment, but really is quite stupid and populist. Also keep in mind: The US is didn’t export a single dose of vaccine, neither under TRump nor under Biden

Experts are saying DeSantis voter suppression might back fire. Many elderly folks votes by mail. Including elderly Trump. Ivanka voted by mail too. Texas and other states might follow Florida voting suppression Jim Crow Law Style.
