“And we have something that almost no other country in the world has: we have the single greatest mechanism to call forth the genius of our fellow human beings. This democracy, more than 320 million people strong, can bring the ingenuity, the creativity, the resolve, of an entire country.”

Ok first, the democracy only counts for people of voting age and those who are allowed to vote. In 2016, that happened to be about 250 million. That’s not the resolve of an entire country, that’s the resolve of the Voting Age Population, of which, only a fraction will turn out because politicians keep spewing bullshit like this. The population is getting a lot wiser to these blowing smoke tactics.

Second, Democracy is not some genius magnet. No matter how you swing it, the last election would have left this country divided on what was the “genius move”, no matter who won.

Y’all ready for “Shitshow 2: the reshittening?”

I understand people dismissing O’Rourke for having lost to Ted Cruz, but as a liberal Texan, myself, I found O’Rourke’s performance in that race really impressive because he came so close to winning as a Democrat in Texas, which hasn’t happened in a race for the US Senate since 1988. You and I might not think much of Ted Cruz, but the people of Texas did elect him, and though O’Rourke is not my top pick for the Democratic nomination, he still did much better than I thought he would in his senate race, enough to support the growing possibility that Texas might become purple, rather than solid red, and I appreciate that.

He lost by a little bit in TEXAS. If he can do that there, that looks good for him in the swing states. Texas is anything but a swing state

he’s a great candidate but it’s bernie’s turn. if you cared about America you wouldn’t divide the democratic party and take your chances in 2024 or 2028.
