Replyprojects by these two passionate, like-
minded and gifted Humanists.
I was nearly brought to tears by Mandy. Wow.
ReplyBravo Stephen for having two passionate men to tell us of our past and what we all need to do today. Best dam late night show
ReplyMy name is inigo Montoya You killed my father, prepare to die.
ReplyVery powerful words, Mandy Patinkin!
ReplyMandy Patinkin sounds good in theory. But, he’s naieve.
ReplyIf – as they do – people don’t want to negotiate, have no good faith and calmly discuss exterminating you because you do not believe what they believe, therefore are not American, and therefore have no right to exist in their version of America – which they believe is divinely ordained to them to rule, and are reinforced every second of the day by any number of voices making a killing from stoking the hatred & division. And so, they will, literally, eliminate you, as that is the only way to cleanse their country, and they will be adjudged righteous for having dones so….
OK, so you’ve heard their side. Now what? How do you compromise on that? All agree to submit to their will? Carry out the genocide yourself?
It’s nonsensical.
I have to say it. There is one thing that the pandemic lacked and needed, a better understanding of why our government is something we need to reacquaint ourselves about. We all seem to have forgotten that these people work for us. And that the United States Presidency is just a temp job.
It’s much more than one man who is expected to uphold the rights of every human being, not just every American!
Amen Mandy Patinkin for your words and final statement and thank you, Ken Burns, I look forward to viewing yet another, well researched and beautifully crafted Documentary! I’m positive it’ll be amazing.
ReplyWow that was powerful
ReplySorry dramatic bla bla bla. Let’s all get back to doing things we used to do. Remember when reagon let prices of goods and real estate rise and basically killed wages ? Throughout time the rich have inherited the earth.
ReplyMandy Patinkin teaching me the most important lessons since Elmo fell ass backwards into Grouchland.
ReplyKen Burns doesn’t rush to put out a documentary, he takes his time, and does his research to put out the truth in a very entertaining way. He is a legend, and a national treasure.
ReplyThey see something we do not and when they represent part of the equation points of view must give way to spokes
ReplyWe fail to learn from the 1918 and 2019 pandemics, the better voting by Ireland, the better drug laws by Portugal, the better prostitute laws by New Zealand, and the better public schools by Finland. The worst crapheads now want to take property taxes from public schools and give it to private brainwashing schools, often Fox News based.
ReplyAs an Englishman, I can say that we are so happy to have lost that war. Even though we might joke about it.
ReplyWe have our own right wing bigots and jingoists but we too are a nation of mongrels from other places. Perhaps one day we will manage to look beyond the silly little things that divide us to the great host of things that unite us as a single species.
Benjamin Franklin is the same guy who wrote a book called “Fart Proudly”.
ReplyI was born in a CROSS FIRE hurricane.
ReplyTucker Carlson. Two iterations of Carlson was two too many.
No more!
I love Ken Burns and his documentaries, great stuff! 23andme said that I’m related to Franklin, but it also said I’m related to Stephen Colbert and a bunch of other people too.
ReplyDemocracy is a difficult tightrope to walk. You want the politicians to be similar enough so it’s possible to cooperate, but different enough that there’s a real choice for the electorate. You want to have some respect between politicians of different parties – a sense of “we may not agree, but I think you’re trying to do what’s best for our country”.
