Late Show bandleader and musical director Jon Batiste sits down with legendary Cuban American jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval for an exploration of the man’s life and musical legacy through words and song.
john is one smooth cat.
These segments are great, Batiste talking about what he knows extremely well rather than trying to be comedic.
Does this ever make it to the normal TV programming? It should! Amazing interview.
I have no idea what the hell these two dudes are talking about, but I do know one thing: They’re some cool ass dudes lol.
love this ‘ session with … ‘ mini series.
Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval first met Dizzy Gillespie in Havana in 1977, when the American jazzman came to Cuba to play a concert. Sandoval showed him around the city …That night, Sandoval managed to play his trumpet for Gillespie — and blew him away.
More of this. Please.
Great stuff. Insightful and enlightening. I’ve listened to a lot of jazz but for some random reason, never gotten to listen to Arturo Sandoval’s music more than some bits and pieces here and there. It’s a really nive way to get to know this artist a little bit through this interview and I’m sure to check some albums of his soon. Especially the one mentioned that was recorded in Finland made me rather curious.
man a living jazz legend talking real music. keep up with these segments!
