I get the point they are trying to make but let’s get one thing clear. The actors in Pen15 looking way older than middle schoolers is the whole point. The writers/actresses are playing younger version of themselves and the self awareness the show has is what makes the show great.
ReplyOne doesn’t experience self-transcendence, the illusion of self only dissipates..🎈
ReplyTo be honest, I didn’t know that the actor that played Jackson Rod Stewart in Hannah Montana was 29 years old. I thought that he was 16 at the time

ReplyDon’t worry. In twenty years, all acting will be done by digital constructs and there won’t be any flesh and blood actors to age or de-age.
Replygive that baby a TT’s 😡 goddamitt
ReplyWhat is pin 15
ReplyThe only actor ever who could pull a teen in his twenties was the great Ralph Macchio in _The Karate Kid._
ReplyWonder why the Daily Show doesn’t have an audience like the other late night shows?
ReplyThey could narrow the age gap, but you don’t really want to use high school kids for your high school movie/show. Too many limitations on working teens. You also want somebody who has the experience and polished skill so that it doesn’t all end up looking like a high school play. You also have the issue of anybody who hasn’t reached physical maturity changing during filming, because your story may take place over five days, but take months to film, plus possible reshooting even later. People might notice that the lead is suddenly two inches taller in the middle of the movie, then shrinks again.
Replytime gets to everyone
ReplyI’ve never had a problem with people deaging the actors as long as it’s convincing I’m all right with it. Like Will Smith In Gemini man they essentially took me back to the fresh Prince of Bel-Air with that one if he was into more dramatic roles at the time. But if it looks weird then no thank you. And to your point about just adding random actors to younger roles, the first thing that comes up is Spider-Man. A lot of people had problems with Tobey Maguire and trying to believe he’s a high schooler turned superhero. Of course people love him now because he’s such a iconic version of Spidey but people still critique it still to this day
