dudes can just not stop being dudes
ReplyFor someone that unimpressive for media attention, she’s surely very famous for being not famous
ReplyGreat world leader.so much better and sensible than most of the other leaders
ReplyAmazing, so when’s Hollywood gonna milk Angela Merkel and releasing a movie
ReplyShe has been an inspiration, and a steadying force for the world, and without the frequent (typical?) corruption and scandal of so many world leaders. A woman of integrity and power. The image of her leaning over the desk and staring down Trump in disgust at the G7 summit in 2018 is my favorite, and shows pictorally her power as even other world leaders seemed to recognize, while the US excuse for president looks like a spoiled naughty toddler.
ReplyDude! That cardi B joke! I almost choked on my dinner! Haaaaa!!
ReplySorry, but no, being a woman does not serve as an excuse for her shortfalls as a chancellor. She phased out nuclear power plants without having renewable energy sources (instead made Germany dependent on coal and natural gas imported from Russia), Germany has the highest electricity prices in the EU, 30 cents per kWh… She made Germany and by extension the EU dependent on Russia for energy, she did nothing when Putin invade Crimea, she has been secretly opposing an joint EU army, she pushed for the EU-china trade agreement (in the meantime Macron cancelled it) she and schaeuble were co-responsible for weakening the EU when the 2010 sovereign debt crisis happened because she refused a sustainable solution for Greece, she wanted to punish the country of Greece instead of demanding procecution of Greek politicians who were corrupt (the anti EU sentiment really gained steam after that), the integration of East and West Germany is mostly cosmetic, there are still huge differences between East and West. She never fixed the problem of excessive bureaucracy in Germany, Germany stagneted technologically in the last years of Merkel, German has one of the most uneven internet coverage in the EU, she made a huge blunder with the refugee crisis by saying publicly “Welkom refugees, Come to Germany” even tho Germany and Germans had no capacity or willingness to receive them… There are more issues, but this are just the main ones I could think of.
ReplyGermans live in a political collective Stockholm syndrome.
When will America get it’s first female president
ReplyCorrection: In 2015, when a million migrants came to germany, Merkel did not ‘open the borders’, als within the EU borders have been open for decades. Merkel did not close them, basically upholding EU ruling rather than falling to a racist panic from europes far rights.
ReplyStill, it was a great moment to see that european values matter when it counts. Unfortunately, after 2015 migration to germany from wartorn countries was made harder, even sending afghan back. Also, migrants die regularly in the ocean, and Germany criminalized privat rescue missions.
Trump and bush so cringe
ReplyI’m an asian, yet she is one world leader that have my repect. Wish the world have more of her in leading countries.
ReplyI think it’s an _incredible_ testament to Merkel and her leadership that she was German chancellor for _17 years,_ but this was the sort of thing the average German could _forget_ for a few days at a time, because Chancellor Merkel was interested in _running the country,_ not _hogging the spotlight._
ReplyI wish Stephen wasnt a sell out and would still do this show. Trevor is an embarrassment
Reply‘SCHLAND!!!!
ReplyI have high hopes for Olaf Scholz, even though he’s part of a “center left” party, with the new coalition government im hoping Germany can begin to evolve from its subordination under neo-liberal policies which regardless of whether you like Merkel or not as a person, still prioritized corporate interest (an example of the building of the nord stream pipeline being completed under her authorization, an extreme setback for climate activists) over that of the working class and genuine interest of the majority who are sick and tired of a stagnant socio-political climate which poses no benefit to them.
ReplyWhat about sleepy Joe, Trevor being biased again
Replyexcellent massage joke, great script trevah!
