No one was more excited for actor Jodie Comer’s big win at the Olivier Awards than her parents, who attended the afterparty and even got a free meal after bringing her trophy home to Liverpool. Previews for her new one-woman show on Broadway, “Prima Facie,” start April 11th at The Golden Theater.

American English uses “chockablock” for crowded, don’t they?

All you eggs are wrong. Chocker Block is when a pulley system has reached the limit. This is the origin of chocker block.

Disclaimer: I might be wrong, probably not, but might be.

Choca is short for choc-a-bloc (sometimes spelled chockablock in USA)! It is stems from pulleys, being pulled as much as possible, all the way so the blocks are touching.

Dang Jodie, you need to completely dis-own your family, go on Oprah to tell your story, write a book about your shameless father… Just kidding, absolutely loved the story and your cheeky old man 🙂

Chocka is derived from chock-full which means filled to overflowing
