As a cat owner, I find this hysterically funny, mostly because I cannot
understand why anyone would think that cats are trainable. They don’t care
if they have a scheduled segment with Stephen Colbert, and I say, good for
them for asserting their true nature.

lol. the organization behind this is raising awareness that you can adopt
    these cats.

Halfway through the act I still wasn’t quite sure whether to consider it as
a masterfully crafted piece of contemporary performance art or just as a
    lame joke…

The audience was being VERY generous with that applause. Cats aren’t meant
to be performers, if you ask me. They’re better at other things, like
looking at you with a superior attitude.

I couldn’t stop laughing that these cats are saying “You want me to do
what”?!!! I’m staying right here, screw these people” Oh look, a carpet,
let me scratch on it”. It was hilarious. I would love to see tomorrow
night’s show where Colbert does his monologue and Letterman pops in and ask
“What was that last night”? Next time when you present “Stupid Pet Tricks”,
no cats”. Oh man, that was great. After what’s been happening for the past
couple of days, we needed something to lighten the mood. Thanks Stephen.

lol, the cats didn’t give a shit… It’s very difficult to tame a cat. You

    swimming … ;-)

It seems very few people get why this was so entertaining and genius. It
was great *because* it was *cats who didn’t care* and didn’t do as they
were told. That doesn’t make it lame, it makes it awesome.

Sorry to see the act on Colbert didn’t go as well as it could have–stuff
happens. I’ve seen their live show, and they really are fabulous when the
kitties cooperate. They must have been put off by the large audience and
bright lights–they usually purrform in smaller venues.

The cats didn’t perform because the loud band scared the hell of them . I’m
sure the rehearsal went well ; they wouldn’t have been on otherwise , but
they didn’t take into account how a live band would freak out animals not
accustomed to it . You see it often enough on talk shows when someone
brings in a zoo animal , the band fires up & the animal bolts .
